Brunch at La Maison in Sag Harbor, NY

Bloody Mary

Raw Oysters

Shrimp Cocktail

(I also had grilled calamari, but forgot to take a picture before it was all gone. It was clearly fantastic though! Oh, and I had a bite of the lobster roll... phenomenal!)

I would definitely recommend La Maison if you're in this area of The Hamptons!!

When life gives you leftover pork tenderloin...

Took the leftover pork tenderloin from last night and slided it up through the mandolin. I then heated it up and placed it on some fresh ciabatta bread that was slathered in spicy mustard and mayo. Next I layered on some pickles, cheese, and then heated it up in the pan. It is times like this that I wish I had a sandwich press. This was still a great lunch and an amazing sandwich.

Mojo Glazed Pork Tenderloin w/ Grilled Sweet Potatoes

This was my game night meal for the Dolphins-Jets game tonight. The pork was marinated in Nellie & Joe's Mojo Criollo. This is a much different taste than their Key West Cuban Style Marinade, but is every bit as good. The pork was grilled and then basted with the rest of the marinade that wasn't used before. As for the potatoes, they were boiled until almost fork tender. I then quartered the potato and brushed on some melted butter mixed with cin-sugar. Grill on both sides and brush again with the butter mixture before moving to the top rack to cook the rest of the way though. These were as perfect as I could have ever expected and came right out their skin.

College Football Saturday Grub & Dinner

When spending a late Saturday afternoon and evening at home watching college football...it just doesn't get better than boiled peanuts, steak, and beer. I grilled up this beautiful New York Strip Steak with a little seasoning to perfection. I then marinated some Portobello Mushrooms win a little balsamic marinade that I made up. These were also grilled and further basted in the marinade. Everything was amazing and was washed down with some ice cold Hoptober Golden Ale from the New Belgium Brewing Co. This is a football Saturday done right. Now if the Dawgs can just win...

Grouper Sandwich from Broughton & Bull

Broughton & Bull is the new restaurant that took over where Il Pasticcio was located on well...Broughton & Bull. We stopped in there today for lunch and it was pretty good. I got the grouper sandwich with potato salad. Also pictured is the gourmet mac-n-cheese that my son ate for lunch. This restaurant is owned by the same people that owned Il Pasticcio and they plan on opening a reservation only restaurant soon upstairs where Savannah Chop House was located.

Kicked up Reuben for Lunch

The standards are on this starting with corned beef, kraut, and provolone cheese on rye bread. Where this one differs is in the slather. No 1000-Island on these sandwiches. Instead I used some kicked up chipotle mustard. This took an already damn good sandwich and made it an outstanding sandwich. It was the perfect mixture of spicy and savory.

Gourmet Warehouse of Hilton Head

Nice selection of marinades I found in Publix that come from a local distributor in Hilton Head. I tried out the Key Lime and the Jerk on some chicken. Both were as good as the other and I highly recommend checking this out when looking for a distinct and new flavor for your meats & fish.

You can order it here if they don't sell it in a store around your area: http://www.hiltonheadgourmet.com/

Carolina Ale House in Augusta

This is a new sports bar/restaurant that just opened in Augusta. Get there early if you want to watch the games because this place gets packed. I decided to try it out for the Dolphins-Vikings game and this place is perfect for watching games and good food. We started off with the fried pickle chips and I ate the southern fried chicken salad as my meal. The fried pickles might be some of the best I have ever had. The salad could have used some more chicken on it, but it was as good as good can be when it comes to salads.

Mellow Mushroom in Statesboro

This is becoming a regular stop for us on our travels between Savannah and Augusta. It really is the nicest looking MM I have ever been in and the menu is different than any other MM as well. We got some garlic cheese bread and half cheese-half mushroom & garlic pizza.

Recent Sandwiches Eaten

The first sandwich is a "Cheese steak" from Publix. They use roast beef for their cheese steaks, so I use that term loosely. It was very good and had provolone, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and jalapeno's on it with a little mayo.

The 2nd sandwich was from one of the vendors inside Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC at the UGA-SC game. It was hot and decent for a BBQ sandwich in the stadium.

The last sandwich is a Bahn Mi from Saigon Flavors here in Savannah.

Last Meal for Yom Kippur Fasting & Break the Fast Meal

The last meal I ate before the fast, which lasted just about 26 hours, was salad, apricot glazed chicken, roasted potatoes, green beans, and meatballs. I know, weird combo. The break the fast meal is one of the best meals you eat all year. All carbs, mostly dairy, and just chock full of goodness. This included bagels & lox, blintzes, cheese kugel (which is the noodle mixture), pickled herring, tuna fish, and tons of desserts. I love this meal, but I am glad it is only once a year.

Matzo Ball Soup

It just doesn't get much better than a piping hot bowl of Matzo Ball Soup. Carrots, Onions, Celery and Chicken were all in this traditional batch of soup.

Rosh Hashanah Lunchinner

A lot of your traditional Jewish holiday meal food items are found here. Brisket...check. Matzo ball soup...check. Gefilte fish...check. Stuffed cabbage...check. All were good. Another item is cole slaw, which this recipe goes back in my family for many many years and generations. Other vegetables include potatoes, beans, a cold vegetable mixture, and squash casserole. Baked chicken also made it onto the menu. All of which will be eaten over and over again for the next few days.
