Olives Mediterranean Cafe in Nassau

Who would have thought that conch fritters and lamb gyros would be a perfect match? However, in Nassau this is exactly the case. Olives Mediterranean Cafe is an excellent marriage of the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

Tucked away in a side alley off of Bay St. in the heart of Nassau, Olives is one of those gems you are glad you stumbled upon. We were walking down Bay St last week looking for some lunch when we saw a sign pointing us down an alley to Olives. What we walked up to was a little side cafe with a few tables and a lot of charm. You can't go to the Bahamas and not have conch. These conch fritters were the right amount of spice and conch. A great way to start lunch and get my fill of fresh conch. The gyro took quite a while to come out. Actually, quite a while is an understatement. It actually took almost 40 min for the gyro to come out. It was worth the wait, as far as gyros go. The lamb wasn't tough and was cooked perfectly. They didn't go overboard on tzatziki sauce, which many places tend to do so often.

If you are ever down that way, check Olives out. It is a nice break from the norm and they have free WiFi. The last picture is one I took from our cruise ship, the Disney Dream, as we pulled into Nassau.

Goose Feathers Cafe in Downtown Savannah

Looks like we have found a new spot for a lazy Sunday breakfast in Savannah! Goose Feathers (@GooseFeathersCf) is an express bakery and cafe right in the heart of downtown at Ellis Square. This area has been renovated over the past couple of years and this restaurant is perfectly located right on the square across from Jazz'd Tapas Bar.

Goose Feathers has all your quick breakfast favorites, hot and cold, as well as fresh baked goods and quiches. They also have a line of signature sandwiches, soups, and salads that are available for lunch service. I went with the Quiche Loraine and an Everything Bagel with Lox, Cream Cheese, and Tomato. Both were very good and the quiche was heated up to perfection.

The staff was very friendly and service was quick. We look forward to going back, trying different things, and having one of their signature "Whoopie Pies".

Flank Steak & Cheese Sandwich from Toucan Cafe

Toucan Cafe is a great restaurant here in Savannah that offers a comfortable island flair setting along with food that is inspired from Greek, Indian, Jamaican, and traditional American backgrounds. Today one of the chefs specials was a flank steak and cheese sandwich. It was well prepared and was one of the best steak and cheese sandwiches I have ever eaten. On top of the grilled flank steak was sweet peppers, caramelized onions, mushrooms, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and an aioli. They also bring out to every table their fresh baked bread of the day and garlic butter. If you are looking for a place to eat in Savannah, that isn't downtown or crawling with tourists, check out Toucan Cafe (or their sister restaurant Sweet Potatoes). You won't be disappointed!

Forsyth Park Cafe' - The Fort Burger...

Decided to once again hit up the all new Forsyth Park Cafe' today. We actually went to the park so Brice could play for a while, but it was just cold enough to drive us back into the cafe'. Once in there I made the executive decision to get the Fort Burger and fries. I must say...that was a tasty burger. Nice touch putting the provolone cheese on both sides of the burger. Threw in another pic of the extra large condiments packages. Gotta love condiments!

Healthy Choice lunch....

I forgot to take a picture of my lunch, but this is what I had. I must say that I highly recommend these new Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers. Out of all the versions out there, the Asian inspired ones rock. All the other types...not so much. The 2 best meals are this one and the General Tso's Spicy Chicken.
