Lovin' Spoons Self Serve Froyo

@lovinspoons is a brand new Frozen Yogurt concept shop in Savannah and Pooler. The second you walk in you are greeted with the self serve wall of frozen yogurt machines. It is a grab your cup and go to town concept. They do have kids cups available upon request, as well as tasting sample cups. The cost of your dessert depends on how heavy your cup is after you make your way through the yogurt machines and the bevy of toppings to choose from. Everything is there...from sprinkles and fresh fruit to your favorite cereals and candies.

Once you get through the toppings you then head over to the sauces. Here there are hot fudge, chocolate, fruit syrups, caramel, and many others.

I went with a half cookies & cream flavored froyo and the other half a red velvet cake flavored froyo. The Georgia Peach was my favorite from those I sampled, but I couldn't think of what toppings would go best with it. I put some oreo's, chocolate chips, sprinkles, waffle cone crumbles, a drizzle of hot fudge and a drizzle of marshmellow creme. A little whipped cream on top finished this treat off.

This is a great place to take the kids (the even have half of an old VW Bug inside for kids to play in) and the options are limitless. We look forward to going back, trying different flavors, different combinations, and letting our creative froyo minds run wild.

UGA vs Buffs...At least the food was good.

Another week of good eating spoiled by a crappy loss. Like I said, at least the food was good. Also, the beer was cold. Another plus in my book. As for the menu:

Jerk Pork Tenderloin, Key Lime Chicken, Cucumber-Tomato-Onion salad, my special baked beans, 7 layer bean dip with chips, Neufchatel Cheese & Dill Puff, Chex-Mix, Variety of Beer, and Ghirardelli Chocolate Brownies plus a whole bunch of chocolate chips.

Blueberry & Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Family was in town and so I made breakfast for everyone. Pancakes were what they wanted, so that is what they got. What you see are some of the fresh blueberry pancakes and the super sweet chocolate chip pancakes. Both were big hits. I also make some plain buttermilk ones for the boring people that can't handle a burst of flavor in their mouths.

Tangerine Fusion & Sushi Bar in Savannah

We had heard good things about this restaurant, but had never given it a shot until today at lunch. Tucked in the back of a strip center, you would never expect a classy joint like this be located there. The staff was excellent, the decor was well done, and the food was outstanding. We started off with Fresh Rolls. This jumbo shrimp, lettuce, rice noodles, cucumber, and cilantro served with a peanut sauce and a side of carrots. This was a perfect refreshing way to start off lunch. We then got a california roll and lobster roll. Both of these didn't disappoint as well. We then finished it off with a chocolate overload cake. Chocolate cake, mousse, fudge, a brownie, and more chocolate sauce, served with some fresh made creme and strawberries. It was super rich and worth every bite. This place just moved to a must to eat at spot here in Savannah for us, along with their sister restaurant "ele".

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria

You can't go to Chicago without eating at Lou's! This place is an institution the originator of the Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza. As with every dinner we had in Chicago, we started off with the Calimari. This didn't disappoint at all. We then got a large Malnati Salad. This is Romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives, sliced mushrooms, crumbled Volpi salami (which was like crunchy bacon bits), gorgonzola cheese and tossed with Lou's famous dressing with a touch of romano cheese. This bowl was so big, I ate two plates of salad, and through 5 of us we hardly made a dent in this beast.

It was then time for the main event...the pizza. We got one medium cheese and one large of "The Lou". The Lou consists of fresh spinach, mushrooms and sliced tomatoes covered with a blend of mozzarella, romano and cheddar cheese. That alone sounds great, but we kicked it up by adding in sausage as well. This took a great pizza and made it outfreakinstanding. I somehow plowed through 3 slices of this and I think I am still suffering from pizza sweats.

We then finished off this meal by watching the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup and by eating the warm Chocolate Chip pie thing. It was a chocolate chip cookie baked to the point where it was still soft and gooey. It was then topped with homemade vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. We only got one, but could have very easily made out way through 2 of these.

Anniversary Dinner, Part 2 @ Calvert's

Tonight we went out to Calvert's Restaurant in Augusta for the 2nd part of our anniversary dinner. This place is just ridonkulous! I had the Rack of Lamb. It was seasoned and baked with basil and pesto; accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and mint chimichurri sauce. My wife had the special of the night which was Lobster stuffed with Shrimp & Scallops with some crazy good sauce over it and a twice baked potato. They brought us out the house dessert which was a flourless chocolate & creme cake that had a Gran Marnier caramel chocolate drizzle. This meal was all kinds of outstanding.

Sunday Night Dinner

Five-pepper jelly glazed salmon, sweet potato and steamed broccoli with Merlot and chocolate pie for dessert. The salmon was excellent. Forgot to take the picture before I began eating...

Desserts & Popcorn at The Strand...

Dinner that The Strand Theater in Marrieta Square was followed by dessert in the lobby and a private showing of the theater and the production "Forever Plaid". The dessert bar included Chocolate Moose & Rasberry shooters, Lemon Meringue tarts, Almond Cookies, Mini Strawberry Shortcakes, and movie theater popcorn to take into the show.
