Philly Cheese Steak from Charley's Grilled Subs
Eaten by
Phins
First time I have eaten at one of these establishments and I got to say that it wasn't half bad. This was your run of the mill cheese steak with mushrooms, onions, green peppers and provolone. I kicked it up a little bit with some banana peppers and jalapeno's. I think kicking it up was the way to go and made this a must have sandwich.

P.F. Chang's "General Chang's Chicken"
Eaten by

We don't have a P.F. Chang's anywhere near us, but it is if you go look in the frozen food isle of the grocery store. Noticed this sitting on the shelf the other night and finally decided to give it a shot. Gotta say, it was pretty damn tasty and wasn't that far outside the quality or taste from it in the restaurant. I served it on top of some brown rice. There are several versions of things off the menu offered and I am looking forward to trying each of these in due time.

Went to provinos for dinner saturday. Good ol throwback dinner. Had the same thing I've been ordering for almost 10 years - canneloni genovese. I also ate probably 40 of those delicious little garlic rolls.
Blackened Grouper Tacos
Eaten by
Phins
Lunch on Sunday was at Driftaway Cafe. This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite establishments here in Savannah. You can get the Grouper many different ways in the taco...fried, blackened, broiled, lightly blackened, etc. I went with the lightly blackened. On top of the Grouper was a little onions, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno's, and their special sauce. This taco really doesn't need much and it stands on its own without any salsa or guacamole. We also started off the meal with a cheesy spinach and artichoke dip that was served with their homemade garlic tortilla chips. I know I have bragged about this place before and I will continue to do so.

Pre-Season Football Meal
Eaten by
Phins
1st football game of the season, Miami vs Tampa Bay, and I took it pretty easy for the gametime grub. Started off with some Smoked Whitefish Salad and Toasts Garlic Parmesan French Rounds. The whitefish wasn't as good as you would get from a true New York Jewish Deli, but is was as good as one could get at The Fresh Market. I then went for the Chicken Pot Pie as the main game meal. This was washed down with some Fiddler's Elbow Beer. I highly recommend this beer. It goes great with just about anything, slightly bitter at first but has some great citrus tones afterwards. It was a nice start to the 2010 football season.

We went out to dinner the other night at Outback. Normally I get the Alice Springs Chicken. Actually, the only thing I ever eat there is the Alice Springs Chicken. Saw the Glazed Pork Tenderloin on the menu and decided to give it a shot. It was pretty good. The garlic mashed potatoes were meh. Next time I will go back to ole reliable.

Jerk Chicken & Pineapple Overload
Eaten by
Phins
Did some grilled jerk chicken with grilled pineapple. However, that just wasn't enough for the pineapple. I then made a side of pineapple, garlic, and mushrooms with a honey teriyaki reduction. I then made some couscous and replaced most of the water with pineapple juice. All of it was most excellent!

Lunch at Magnolia's in Charleston
Eaten by
Phins
Charleston SC is full of great food, but when you are wanting some great food in a causal uptown environment you go to Magnolia's. We started off with the massive plate of Housemade Potato Chips. These chips are covered with warm and gooey crumbled blue cheese and scallions. For my main course I got the Parmesan Crusted Flounder. This was served over Carolina rice and creek shrimp purloo with sweet corn, tomato and asparagus salad, lump crab and a lemon beurre blanc. It was a nice treat to find the rice and shrimp under the corn salad. I highly recommend this restaurant or one of their other 2 sister restaurants on your next trip to Charleston.
